About this site

Why did I create this site?

As a child I went to church, but this was done out of compulsion, duty
and obligation, rather than a heartfelt personal desire to learn about
God.  The way God was explained in my youth was dry and meaningless
to me.  God had no real relevance to me till I reached middle age and I
began to wonder what all the fuss was about!

I am an analytic, and for me to believe in God, I had to reconcile the
different messages that I was getting about God, spirituality, religion
and science.

When I started to research God, I asked Him to help me!  I asked Him
to reveal Himself to me.  The answers did not come in a flash of
inspiration; it took several years and a of a lot of time and work on my
part, and I am still learning.  Most of my learning today comes from
trying to follow the Golden Rule rather than studying God, because I
have found that this is the best way for me to evolve and grow closer
to Him.

What we are and why we are here is very simple and easy to
understand.  However, it took me a long time to put the pieces
together and achieve this understanding.  It was very difficult to find a
relatively simple and concise explanation for our existence that made
any sense.

This web site is my personal attempt to provide simple explanations
that will help you to understand and give meaning to your existence.
It explains in very broad terms how creation works, and what God
expects of you.

I have tried to present a “Big Picture” overview of creation, rather
than the detail that many other sites try to provide.  The problem with
detail is that the deeper we delve into it, the more complicated and
less relevant it becomes.  There is a lot more depth that you can
explore if you choose, but the reason for living is to learn to love; it is
that simple.  Past a certain point, which is different for each of us, if
you continue to thirst for knowledge you will get very frustrated and it
is unlikely that you will ever be satisfied.  All will be revealed to you,
but not during this temporary physical existence.  If everything were
explained now, you would not learn the lessons you came here to
learn.

How was this site constructed?

Throughout this web site you will encounter a certain amount of
repetition.  Thoughts and comments have been included in more than
one section of this site.  This repetition is by design, and is necessary
because people read on the Internet by accessing short sections and
titles, rather than by reading large blocks of flowing text.  This is also
the reason why I created this site using bullet points rather than long
paragraphs of text.  You will notice repeated themes expressed in
subtle and sometimes less than subtle ways.  This is because these are
important themes that come up time and time again when trying to
understand God’s message. Also, repetition helps people to learn.

As far as I am aware, this site does not contain thoughts, concepts or
comments that are unique to this site.  This is natural and to be
expected. The closer you get to understanding God’s simple message
of love, the more unified and congruent the explanations become!
Everything you will find here can be further researched, either in
books or on the Internet.

Some of what I have written is difficult to believe if you have not
encountered this kind of material before.  Some concepts may be a
total surprise to you, and some concepts may shock you because they
are directly opposed to what you have already been conditioned to
believe.

The religious references that you will find most often in this site are to
Christianity and the Bible.  This is because readers of this site are
likely to be most familiar with Christianity.  However, all authentic
religions are based on the Golden Rule, and they lead to the one and
only God, so my intent is not to promote any particular religion.  I do
think that Jesus Christ is one of the greatest teachers, but I also think
the same of The Buddha and Mohammed.  It is a shame that their
messages have been corrupted through the weaknesses of humankind.

As long as you behave with love in your heart, you should feel free to
view God and religion in the way that makes the most sense to you and
that generates your most loving behavior.

I have tried to illustrate key concepts within this site with quotes from
various people, some well known and some less well known.  It is my
hope that these quotes will help the reader to reflect on what they
read.

I spent a long time making the writing on this site crisp and concise.  I
could have written a lot more, but I might have lost the interest and
attention span of many readers.  I think that many people make the
mistake of writing too much when they discuss spirituality, religion,
God and science.  The truth is simple and easy to understand.  It is the
practice that it difficult!

It is not possible for me to just hand you the answers you seek.  You
must feel them in your heart for them to have relevance and
application in your daily life.

Throughout this site, God is referred to in traditional masculine
terms.  This is what most readers are used to.  However, you should
feel free to see God in terms of whatever gender or form helps you to
better relate to and love God.  God is our creator, and is therefore
both our father and mother.

If you decide to research God with an open mind and heart, you will
find that it is possible to discover the fullness and love of God for
yourself, just as I have.

Explanation of terms used in this site

PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS or UNIVERSE - We live in a three dimensional
physical universe (length x width x height) plus time.  This is referred
to as the
universe, or physical dimensions or physical world or natural
world
.

MULTIVERSE - The entirety of creation, including all dimensions, is
referred to as the
multiverse.  String theories currently speculate that
there are at least 10 dimensions, most of which are not accessible to
us while we are rooted in the
physical dimensions.

SPIRITUAL DIMENSIONS - The dimensions that are not visible to us
while we live in the
physical dimensions are referred to as the spiritual
dimensions
or spiritual realms or supernatural world or non-physical
dimensions
.  Strictly speaking, not all of these additional dimensions
are spiritual, because there are
non-physical dimensions inhabited or
accessible to other souls who, like human beings, have not yet passed
into the
spiritual realms.  Explaining this fully is beyond the scope of
this site.

LOVE – The use of the word love in this web site generally refers to
unconditional love.  This is defined as love that is given freely and
regardless of the relationship between the giver and receiver.
Unconditional love is not given with the expectation of receiving
anything in return.

INCARNATION – is the condition that refers to an eternal being, a soul,
temporarily living inside a physical body.  To “incarnate” is to return to
the physical dimensions to experience a physical lifetime.  Since we
are all eternal beings, to “re-incarnate” means practically the same as
to “incarnate”.

You don't have a soul. You are a
Soul. You have a body.
C. S. Lewis

Life is real! Life is Earnest!
And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art, to dust returneth,
Was not spoken of the soul.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

We are not human beings having
a spiritual experience. We are
spiritual beings having a human
experience.
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

And when the earth shall claim
your limbs, then shall you truly
dance.
Kahlil Gibran

When you examine the lives of
the most influential people who
have ever walked among us, you
discover one thread that winds
through them all. They have
been aligned first with their
spiritual nature and only then
with their physical selves.
Albert Einstein

Sometimes we have to "step
over" our anger, our jealousy, or
our feelings of rejection and
move on. The temptation is to
get stuck in our negative
emotions, poking around in them
as if we belong there. Then we
become the "offended one," "the
forgotten one," or the "discarded
one." Yes, we can get attached to
these negative identities and
even take morbid pleasure in
them. It might be good to have a
look at these dark feelings and
explore where they come from,
but there comes a moment to
step over them, leave them
behind and travel on.
Henri Nouwen

A growing number of respectable
scientists are defecting from the
evolutionist camp.....moreover,
for the most part these "experts"
have abandoned Darwinism, not
on the basis of religious faith or
biblical persuasions, but on
strictly scientific grounds, and in
some instances, regretfully.
Dr. Wolfgang Smith, physicist and
mathematician

It is easy to understand God as
long as you don't try to explain
him.
Joseph Joubert

In making up the character of
God, the old theologians failed to
mention that He is of infinite
cheerfulness. The omission has
caused the world much
tribulation.
Michael Monahan

To define God is to limit Him.
Still it seems inevitable that man
should do that in order to get
some edge to which his mind may
cling
Heywood Broun

There is a major shift in basic
spirituality from dealing with
life and God as a problem to be
solved and with life and God as a
mystery to be entered.
Eugene Peterson, letter 1/29/99

Faith is taking the first step even
when you don't see the whole
staircase.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Understanding is the reward of
faith. Therefore, seek not to
understand that thou mayest
believe, but believe that thou
mayest understand.
Augustine

To one who has faith, no
explanation is necessary. To one
without faith, no explanation is
possible.
Saint Thomas Aquinas

Faith is a knowledge within the
heart, beyond the reach of proof.
Kahlil Gibran

Our bodies exist, of course, in
the physical world, which
provides an environment for our
activity and growth on Earth and
offers us nourishment,
stimulation and joy. Likewise,
there is a spiritual dimension of
the universe the invisible spirit
world- which serves as the
environment for our spirits. Our
spirit is the internal counterpart
to our physical body, and the
spirit world is the invisible
counterpart to the physical
world. This world is located not
up in heaven, but in a different
dimension, inter-penetrating the
physical world and the universe.
While on Earth we exist in both
worlds at once, in effect
connecting the two. For this
reason, people on occasion can
have visions and communicate
with the dead.
Nora Spurgin

Technically you need the extra
dimensions. At first people didn't
like them too much, but they've
got a big benefit, which is that
the ability of string theory to
describe all the elementary
particles and their forces along
with gravity depends on using
the extra dimensions.
Edward Witten

To truly find God, truth needs to
be found independently from the
opinions of others.  The truth has
to be found in our hearts.
